Hello, my name is Maria Arriaga. I am proud of being a Dual Language Immersion teacher at Golden Hill School. As a Spanish teacher, one of my goals is to provide an environment where all of the students feel safe and secure to learn a new language. I also work to assist Spanish speakers to further develop their native language. As a Kindergarten and first grade teacher, I find great joy in seeing students that are beginning their journey to becoming biliterate in English and Spanish.
Before becoming a Spanish teacher, I earned my Liberal Arts Degree from the University of San Diego and my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from SDSU.
I learned Spanish from my parents, who are both from Guanajuato, Mexico.
My home is in National City with my husband, two daughters (who both attend Golden Hill School) and our cat. Our family enjoys gardening, spending time with our extended family, visiting various parks, and finding new places to visit.
